It’s not often that I am at a loss for words. As I sit here tonight and attempt to pen a clever little love note to my roaring twenties, only imageries come to mind. You see, occasionally there are memories, points, and things that happen to us within our lives, which leaves us without the ability to illuminate a proper description of the sensation. Undeniably, my twenties have been chock-full of the highest highs and lowest lows and I wouldn’t change a fucking thing.
When I set out to move back to Phoenix from Wisconsin when I was nearly twenty, I had no concept of how amazing the life I would build for myself over the next decade would be. In looking out the rearview mirror, there are many lessons and things that I have learned along the way and could easily write down, but I truly believe that the only way to be left completely speechless is to actually get out there and experience everything this world has to offer.
There was never a moment in my twenties that I pictured my life being where it is now, as I turn thirty. In fact, some things that have occurred thus far are so out there, that I highly doubt I would have believed myself anyway. But, regardless I’ve found that things happen, whether you have something to say about it or not.
Naturally I have not adored every.single.damn.moment of my twenties because well, I am human and because that is LIFE. However, despite the shit that may have been flung my way from time to time, I was more fortunate than not. Fortunate enough to travel, experience other cultures, work hard, play hard, share the best laughs with friends, marry my very best friend, be surrounded by my lovely family, flex my creative muscle, hell even my corporate muscle and like a sponge, absorb every last drop of what my twenties had to offer.
It’s a bittersweet feeling, really. They say that letting go is the hardest part and I am ready to let go of my twenties and take on a new decade, which will hopefully be filled with just as much color as my formative years. Cheers to turning 30 and may the next decade of my life be just as fun as the last! Thank you to all who have been a part of my twenties. Maybe one day I’ll write a book about it…(wink).
Love,
Britt x
